Toronto Pearson is the main airport serving the Greater Toronto, Hamilton and Niagara Region. It is also the only major international airport in all of Southern Ontario. Therefore, it receives passengers arriving by road from as far as 300 km away.
There are several car-hire services or airport-transfer services and out-of-town transportation available form all points in Ontario to Toronto Pearson Airport such as:
- AirWays Transit
- Robert Q Airbus
- Red Car Service
- Niagara AirBus
- Century Transportation
- Ontario Coachway
- Stratford Airporter
and many more. These services are very comfortable, reliable. For solo-travelers rates are generally on par with private Taxis. But they are most affordable if you travel as a couple/group/family and if you choose their “Shared Ride” services.
If you own a car, then you need see if taking an airport-transfer service justifies the costs. Also, you need to weigh the factors surrounding a long drive home or to the airport.
Firstly, assuming a return trip to the airport by an airport-transfer service costs you $300. You enjoy a comfortable, quiet ride and you are not very exhausted because you were able to catch a wink on the way.
Now, if instead, you drove your car to the airport, and assuming that you pay $15 a night somewhere for extended-parking, then you’ll need your trip to be around 20 days to match the costs of an airport-transfer.
Here’s the kicker: As of writing, a 20 day parking at with a valet service costs $200 at Park’N Fly. You get a free shuttle to the airport, your car remains in good hands and if its an electric: they will keep it charged for you. For an additional $100 you can have it washed, cleaned and detailed inside-out when you return.
If you have a long drive home form the airport, sometimes staying the night over at a hotel near the airport is a good idea. You may become a hazard on the road if you are already fatigued and your body will thank you for the rest and recharge the next morning.
A few words touching on Park’N Fly
Park’N Fly is the largest off-airport parking provider in Toronto. It has four out-door lots, all of which are along the stretch of road between 626 Dixon Rd, Toronto and 5815 Airport Rd, Mississauga. It also has locations in other cities across Canada such as Montréal, Ottawa, Halifax, Winnipeg, Edmonton and Vancouver.
Park’N Fly has very competitive rates for long-term parking, and for a good reason. If Toronto Pearson Airport and the surrounding hotels begin to take on the parking market, there would’t be much space left for people visiting for a few hours or guests who are actually staying over-night.
Leaving your car at Park’N Fly is safe. All lots are secured, monitored, fenced and well lit. A free shuttle picks you up and takes you to the airport and bring you back.
You may even use their valet service to park your car for you. They can also wash it and detail the inside while you are away. Need the oil changed? That can be requested as well. Is your car electric ? They will keep it charged for free.
Below is a list of hotels near Toronto Pearson Airport that are conveniently located next to or within a walkable distance of one of the Park N’Fly lots. You will save on long-term parking and enjoy the comfort of some of the best hotels in the area.
