Some hotels and motels conform to a curious demand from local patrons — that of a heart-shaped bath-tub. In this article, I discuss only those hotels and motels that offer a heart-shaped jacuzzi, because there are only a few such rooms left in Niagara Falls.

The most of the hotels in this article are located on Lundy’s Lane, which becomes Ferry St after crossing Main St in Niagara Falls. Ferry St becomes Victoria Ave as it passes through the Clifton Entertainment Area.

The Oakes Hotel Overlooking the Falls

The Oakes Hotel has some of the best views of Niagara Falls from the Canadian side. It is located on 6546 Fallsview Blvd next to the Embassy Suites and the Fallsview Casino Resort.

The hotel has three annexes: the Courtyard, which was originally a 2 storey Days Inn, a 14 storey mid-rise and a 21 storey high-rise.

The rooms in the Courtyard are called Traditional. These rooms do not offer any view of the falls. They offer the convenience of a quick entry and exit, and keep you in touch with the activity on the street level. With an area of 290 sq.ft, they are the smallest rooms at the Oakes Hotel and offer the most value.

The Riverside rooms are located on floors 2 to 7. From these rooms you will be able to see at the top of the Horseshoe Falls and the upper Niagara River. This is still a very beautiful sight as you can admire millions of litres water flowing and dropping into the gorge.

The rooms form floors 8 to 21 are called Fallsview and they offer a commanding view of the Horseshoe Falls as well as the American Falls.

All guests at the Oakes Hotel have unlimited access to the observation room on the 14th floor regardless of their room type.

Couples on honeymoon should absolutely consider reserving a room or a suite with a Jacuzzi. The Jacuzzi is heart-shaped and white in colour. However, it is bigger than most of the heart-shaped tubs we have found at other places mentioned in this article.

The Standard Rooms at the Niagara Falls Oakes Hotel have an area of 330 sq.ft and The Premier rooms are more spacious at 400 sq.ft. Both these room types are available in a single King bed or a two Queen bed configurations.

The hotel also has suites that feature separate bedrooms and living areas. Suites offer additional privacy and a sense of luxury to add to your romantic evenings. They are also preferred by families and groups travelling together as a cost saving and convenient strategy.

All rooms at the Oakes Hotel, Niagara Falls come with free Wi-Fi, a work desk and chair, a mini-fridge, a coffee maker and a flats-screen TV with premium channels.

Breakfast is not available with the basic room fare at the Oakes Hotel. There is an Applebee’s located just next door, and it opens at 8:00 AM in the morning offering a hot breakfast.

The Oakes Hotel has an indoor swimming pool, open to all guests. You will also find a fitness centre, equipped with several cardio machines, to help your heart going.

Outdoor Parking is available at the Oakes Hotel for $35 per night per vehicle, with in-out privileges.

Howard Johnson Plaza by Wyndham by the Falls, Victoria Ave, Niagara Falls

Howard Johnson Plaza by the Falls in located on 5905 Victoria Ave, close to the Clifton Hill Entertainment area. Victoria Street is lined on both side by countless souvenir and gift-shops. Sometimes, you may even find an amazing deal for under $5.

The hotel has food court in the lobby, featuring a KFC, Pizza Hut and Baskin-Robbins. A Denny’s is located just next door, serving American style breakfasts 24 hrs a day.
Other restaurants found across the street include Outback Steakhouse, Popeyes, Osmow’s, TGI Fridays and The Keg Steakhouse.

The Howard Johnson Plaza has 198 rooms arranged over 7 floors. The standard Queen and King rooms have an area of 300 sq.ft. The superior rooms have an area of more that 375 sq.ft.
Each room comes with a free Wi-Fi, work-desk, coffee-maker, mini-fridge, microwave and a flat-screen TV with satellite channels and Pay-Per-View.

Around 20 rooms at the Howard Johnson Plaza have a walkout balcony. You will get to enjoy the fresh air and watch the activities around Victoria Street. The top floor balconies offer great views of Clifton Hill. On New Year’s Eve, the balconies are perfect for viewing fireworks over the Niagara Falls.

A two person heart-shaped tub is only available in the Deluxe King Whirlpool Suite. While most suites have a red heart-shaped tub, some refurbished rooms have a newer heart-shaped tub that is white in colour.

The Superior King Whirlpool/Fireplace Suite, comes with a square-shaped tub. This oversized suite has an 470 sq.ft and is perhaps the most luxurious and spacious room at the Howard Johnson Plaza, Niagara Falls.

The Howard Johnson Plaza by the Falls features an indoor Swimming Pool and a water-slide for children. There is also an outdoor swimming pool with a patio, that is open in the warmer months. A Fitness centre equipped with several cardio machines is available on site and open to all guests.

The Howard Johnson Plaza Niagara Falls has a large outdoor parking at the back of the property. Parking costs $15 per night per vehicle per room.

The hotel enforces a Quiet Time policy between 11 pm and 7 am.

The Days Inn Near The Falls is a 7 storey hotel with 117 rooms. The types of rooms offered are Standard Queen and King Rooms, and King Rooms with a hot-tub. Most rooms have an area of about 290 sq.ft.

Every room comes with free Wi-Fi, a work-desk and chair, a coffee-maker and a flat-screen TV with cable channel and pay movies. In-room Microwaves and mini-fridges are not available.

The red heart-shaped hot-tub is only available in the “Deluxe King Room with Hot Tub” at the Days Inn Near the Falls.

Travelodge by Wyndham, Fallsview Hotel, Niagara Falls

The Travelodge Fallsview Hotel is located 5599 River Road (Niagara Pkwy) at Hiram St. It stands on top of the Niagara gorge with the Lower Niagara River flowing below.
Directly across the gorge in New York State, you can see the historic Schoellkopf power station, which collapsed into the river in 1956. Today, the site is used by the Maid of the Mist boat tour company as a maintenance and boat storage yard.

All the rooms at the front of the hotel have a walk-out balcony. You only get a partial view of the American Falls form here as most of it is hidden by the Rainbow Bridge. When it is foggy or raining, you may not even see it.
The rooms at the back offer a partial view of the Clifton Hill Entertainment Area.

Many rooms are decorated in a traditional master-bedroom style with hard-wood furniture and patterned wallpaper. Each room comes with a free Wi-Fi, a work-desk, a coffee-maker and a flat-screen TV with premium cable channels.
In-room microwaves and fridges are not available.

A red heart-shaped tub is only found in the “Queen Room with Hot Tub” at the Fallsview Travelodge. This room has a single Queen Size bed, and is decorated with a retro style wall paper and Marylin Monroe posters. This room does not have a balcony.

The King Room with Hot Tub has a round white tub. This room is actually tastefully decorated and perhaps more family friendly.

The Travelodge Fallsview Hotel features an indoor heated swimming pool open to all guests. There is also a fitness centre equipped with some cardio and strength-training machines.

Fullerton Manor Inn

The Fullerton Manor Inn is a hidden-gem among independently run motels in Niagara Falls, Ontario. It is located on 7940 Lundy’s Lane, a 1 drive minute east of the QEW.

It is owned and operated by a family who come with a wealth of experience form their previous employment with Hilton and Marriott.
In 2018, they had the whole property renovated in a Mediterranean revival style architecture, with some touches from their Chinese heritage.

The Fullerton Manor Inn has 31 rooms, that are decorated in a home-away-from style and furniture of french-inspired design. The rooms have a generous space 365 sq.ft and up. The types of bed configuration available are one King Bed, one Queen Bed, two Queen Beds and three Queen Beds.

Each room comes with free Wi-Fi, a desk and chair, a couch, coffee-maker, mini-fridge and a flat-screen TV. In-room microwaves are not available.

The rooms at the back of the hotel each have balconies on the upper and lower floors. The back side only has additional parking with a privacy hedge on the far-end.

The washrooms are spacious and extremely clean, with a shower and tub combination. The complimentary toiletries and clean towels are stocked daily.

The Premium Jacuzzi Suites or Studio with Spa Bath feature an in-room heart-shaped jacuzzi. This suite boasts 385 sq.ft of space and is luxuriously decorated for couples to enjoy a romantic night.

The Fullerton Manor Restaurant is located on the roadside. Guests staying at the hotel have complimentary access to the breakfast buffet. The buffet changes slightly everyday and features ingredients that are in season.

Howard Johnson by Wyndham, Lundy’s Ln, Niagara Falls

This is a second Howard Johnson in Niagara Falls, and it is located on 8100 Lundy’s Ln, about 1 km west of the QEW. It is a motel with 84 rooms arranged on two floors. The upper floors are accessible by stairs and all rooms have an entrance to the outside.

Parking is available in front of the room doors around the property. Costs for parking are $5.00 per vehicle per night.

Pets are welcome at this location for $20 per night. However your pet must be within the 30 lb limit and may only be allowed to stay in specific rooms.

Most rooms with the exception of the King Suite come in a two Queen Bed Configuration. Standard rooms have an area of 320 sq.ft, while the suites are slightly more spacious with an area of 350 sq.ft.

Every room at the Howard Johnson, Niagara Falls comes with free basic Wi-Fi, a work-desk and chair, a coffee-maker and a flat-screen TV.
A microwave or a mini-fridge can be requested in your room for an additional $10 per night per appliance.

The red heart-shaped hot-tub is only available in the King Suites. The tub is installed in the bedroom next to the King size bed, and has mirrors on two sides to reflect the warm-candle light, as you sip on a glass of champagne.

Kings Inn Near the Falls

The Kings Inn, also known as the Kings Motor Lodge, is located on 5525 Ferry St, very close to Clifton Hill and just minutes form the Falls. There are 44 rooms in this motel arranged on 3 floors. There is no elevator, so if you require accessibility, then you must ask for rooms on the ground-floor.

The Kings inn has an outdoor swimming pool, which is only open during the warmer months. Every room has a 27-inch TV, air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi and a mini-fridge.

If you are looking for a red heart-shaped tub, then you must ask for a “Romantic Room”, which has the jetted tub in the bedroom.

The rooms are not very modern and have old furnishings but they do bring out a lot of character. The bathrooms are clean and very home-style. The are fully stocked with all the amenites of fresh towels, soaps and hair-dryer.

There are several restaurants in the vicinity featuring international foods. For breakfast, you may want to try AlMacs just next door, which features an all-day breakfast buffet.

Rainbow Motor Inn – Fallsview, Niagara Falls, Ontario

The Rainbow Motor Inn is a 55 room motel, located less than a 5 minute walk form the Fallsview Casino Resort and about 12 minute walk to the American Falls. There is a Tim Horton’s that is open 24 hrs a day.

Just across the street is the Niagara Freefall & Interactive Centre that features indoor skydiving, laser-tag and a variety of arcade games and activities.
If you are a guest at the Rainbow Motor Inn, you may be eligible for a 10% discount on the Wind Tunnel passes or 2 for 1 passes to the Freefall & Interactive Center.

Sunset Inn, Niagara Falls, Ontario

The Sunset Inn is located on 5803 Stanley Ave, north of Ferry St. If you are coming from Hwy 420 and are driving south on Stanley Ave, stay on the right lane and slow down after Emery St, in-case you miss and drive past.

The Sunset Inn stands in a residential neighbourhood of modest dwellings. It is only a 10 minute walk to the Clifton Hill Entertainment Area. The Niagara Falls are about a 5 minute drive.

Pets are welcome at the Sunset Inn for $50 per night. There is a limit of 2 pets per room.

The Sunset Inn has various room configurations for couples and families of all sizes. For families of up-to 4 members, there are standard rooms with two Queen beds. There are also rooms that are furnished with 3 Queen beds that can accommodate up-to six guests. These family rooms are quite spacious with an area of around 460 sq.ft and up.

The Sunset Inn also has a two-bedroom suite for large groups who like to travel together such as students or children of more than one family. Each bedroom is furnished with 4 double beds, therefore allowing up-to 8 people to stay at the same time.

The smallest rooms have a single Queen bed. Couples looking for a romantic get-away at Niagara Falls should opt for a _Room with a Spa-bath, which has a heart-shaped tub installed just across the bed.

Each room at the Sunset Inn comes with free-WiFi, a microwave, a coffee maker, mini fridge and a flat screen TV with cable channels. The rooms are furnished with a traditional decor, making you feel right at home.

The Sunset Inn has an Outdoor pool that is open to all guests. The pool is only open seasonally in the warmer months.

Niagara Inn and Suites, Niagara Falls, Ontario

The Niagara Inn & Suites is a 26 room motel located an 7225 Lundy’s Ln, just east of the QEW. From here it is less than a 10 minute drive to the Cilfton Hill Entertainment District and the Niagara Falls. The Canada One Outlet Mall is a 5 minute walk. It has around 20 brand name fashion stores offering deep discounts and factory deals. It is also older than the larger and more popular Outlet Collection at Niagara

The Niagara Inn & Suites offers rooms with a single queen bed and a two queen bed configuration. The rooms are modestly furnished in a style that is mostly outdated. Each room comes with Free Wi-Fi, a microwave, a coffee maker and a television with cable channels.

The Honeymoon Suite features a red heart-shaped tub in the centre of the room. It features all amenities of the standard rooms in addition to clean washrooms with a shower-tub combination.

There is an outdoor swimming pool and a BBQ area for all guests to enjoy during the summer months.
The Motel is located next to a bridge over the hydro canal, which serves the Sir Adam Beck Hydoelectric Generating Station. Just next to it in a 20km long Millennium Trail where you can walk, run an bike. However, to access the trail, you will need to drive down to the intersection of McLeod Rd and Oakwood Dr.

Parking is free to all guests at the Niagara Inn & Suites. This is definitely a plus, especially if you plan to stay in Niagara Falls for more than a couple of nights.

Rockwell Resort, Niagara Falls, Ontario

The Rockwell Resort is located an 7701 Lundy’s Lane, a few hundred meters form the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW). The property was previously a Knight’s Inn Motel and later became Westlodge Inn before changing hands again.

Rockwell Resort is a 90 room motel, with a large parking area. There are two islands in the middle of the parking lot. One of them has a gazebo and a flower-bed, making for a picturesque romantic setting. The other island has an out-door swimming pool.

There is a charming little wedding chapel at the corner of the property. The chapel is operated by Niagara Falls Wedding World, who specialize in conducting the perfect, elegant and romantic weddings.

At the first impression, the rooms and the decor at the Rockwell Resort look dated. But rooms and the property are well maintained, so the decor adds to the charm. The rooms are floored with hardwood and walls are painted in subdued colours or wall-papered in a nostalgic style.

All rooms have an exterior entrance making for a convenient and private entry and exit form room to car.

Most rooms have a standard two Queen bed configuration. The beds are firm but comfortable, and the bedding upholstery itself could use a style update.

Every room comes with a desk, a microwave, a mini-fridge, a coffee maker and a flat-screen TV with cable channels. Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms and public areas

Some rooms have (a kitchenette) an electric stovetop for cooking. The front-desk can provide pots and pans if needed.

The washrooms are clean, and have a standard sink, toilet and a shower & tub combination. Some washrooms take on a retro look with patterned tiles on the floor and walls. The patterns are unique for every washroom.
Some of the washrooms, however, have been upgraded to modern standards with clean looking tiles.

The Rockwell Resort offers a King Studio Suite with a red heart shaped Jacuzzi. In some rooms the red tub is installed next to the King size bed, while in some, the red tub is part of the washroom with a hand held shower.
The King Studio suite has all standard amenities provided (with the exception of a kitchenette)

A complimentary Breakfast is only available with your room-fare during the summer months (May to August). The breakfast is continental buffet style with bagels, cereal, muffins, waffles and unlimited coffee.
All the food served at the Rockwell resort is Halal and if any meat is being served, it will be certified Halal.

The Rockwell Resort was founded by (Late) Steve Rockwell, with whom I had a very personal connection to. Steve owned a very popular designer clothing store at the corner of Yonge and Dundas in downtown Toronto before selling everything and moving to Niagara Falls.
As a legacy, the motel initially had a designer clothing store operating on premises.
