Brampton is the third largest city in the Greater Toronto Area after Toronto and Mississauga. It is a major centre for advanced manufacturing, automobile parts and assembly, retail and logistics.
Brampton is known for its ethnic diversity, especially of the South Asians, followed the Europeans, Black Canadians and Latino, who are among the largest groups.

Spread over an area of 265 sq.km and with a population density of 2500 persons per sq.km, the city is challenged daily by heavy traffic during rush hours on all its roads. A 25 minute drive can become an hour long commute. Therefore, it would make much sense to stay close to where you need to be during your visit.

Brampton has more than a hundred hotels and motels dotted in all parts of the city. To keep things simple, this article only discusses the best hotels in Brampton, west of Hwy 410 (or Tomken Rd).

The western areas of Brampton have most of the city’s attractions and its Downtown. Much of the industry and warehousing still survives in this area. However, many areas are being re-zoned and re-developed into commercial and residantial neighbourhoods.

Hwy 410 provides the quickest link out of the city toward Mississauga, and the highways 401 and 407. Major exits on Hwy 410 are at Steeles Ave E, Queen St E, Bovaird Dr E, and Sandalwood Pkwy E.
Queen Street and Steeles Avenue are the busiest east-west roads of Brampton. Many hotels are located in clustered along these two roads, some of which are discussed in this post.

Standard Room information

Most hotels in the Greater Toronto Area advertise two types of rooms: Queen and King.

The Queen Room is commonly furnished with two Queen size beds. The King Room always has a single King size bed. The room size and in-room amenities should not differ by much. While the the Queen room can sleep up-to 4 guests, the rates of these two rooms are nearly always identical.

Some hotels offer rooms with One Queen Bed with competetive rates targeting solo travellers and those on a smaller budget. The rooms may be smaller and may not have a work-desk; but this may not always be the case.

The ensuite washrooms in most Canadian hotels are nearly identical. The sink has a laminated counter-top and a large mirror. The toilets are an elongated style and around 30 inches deep. The shower-tub combination has curved curtarn rods for additional space, and a shower-head with options for rain-shower and massage.

The washrooms usually have a wall-mounted hairdryer and are stocked with complimentary toiletries and clean towels.


Brampton hotels on Steeles and 410

Steeles Ave is one of the major east-west roads of the Greater Toronto Area. It begins at the intersection of Appleby Ln, west of the town of Milton and travels the entire width of the city of Brampton. In Toronto, Steeles Ave forms the border with the York Region and its cities of Vaughn and Markham. The road continues as Taunton Rd in Durham Region and ends near the ghost town of Decker Hollow in Oshawa.

In Brampton, major landmarks on Steeles include Sheridan College at McLaughlin Rd S and Shoppers World Mall and Transit Terminal at Main St. The area around Steeles Ave and Hwy 410 is predominantly industrial, warehousing and big-box retail. You will find major nameo like Costco, Walmart, Marks, Home Depot and Lowes as well as several fast-food and ethnic restaurants.


Courtyard by Marriott, Brampton

Courtyard by Marriott, Brampton is located on 90 Biscayne Crescent, at Steels and First Gulf Blvd just west of Hwy 410. It has a large outdoor parking space, that joins with other interconnecting parking lots belonging to Costco, Playdium and nearby restaurants.

The hotel has 159 guestrooms and targets business travellers and families. It features an indoor heated swimming pool with a water-slide that reaches almost 2 storeys high. A fitness centre with several cardio machines and free weights is open to all guests.

Breakfast is not complimentary at the Brampton Courtyard by Marriott. However, the hotel features an exclusive Bistro where you can savour in delicious and healthy breakfasts that are made-to-order. Starbucks coffee is also served here.
The Bistro is also open for Lunch and Dinner, featuring an Italian-American menu.

If you are craving a late night snack, there is a 24 hr self-serve market where you can grab chips, pop-corn, juices and other sundry items you may suddenly need.

You can get documents printed or faxed at the Business Centre, where you will also find workstations with internet connectivity.

All rooms and suites at the Courtyard by Marriott, Brampton are furnished with a work-desk and office-chair, a sofa-bed, a dresser and a closet. The large windows bring in copious amount of natural light, and the room can be darkened with black-out curtains and to ensure privacy.
Each room has a heating and air-conditioning combination unit that can be individually controlled.

If you are allergic dust and dust-mites, you can request your beds to be prepared with Hypo-allergenic bedding upon check-in.

Small families may prefer booking the Queen Room, which is furnished with two queen size beds. This room can sleep up-to four guests at a time.

Both the Standard King and Queen rooms have identical rates per night. Inter-connecting and and adjoining rooms may be available on request.

If you are a smoker or prefer breathing fresh air while you sleep, you will prefer a room with a balcony. The Brampton Courtyard by Marriott prohibits all indoor smoking, so you won’t have to go downstairs, especially in the winter every time you need to smoke. There are 10 such rooms with a balcony and they are similar in size and furnishing as the Standard Queen Rooms.

If you are looking for a romantic get-away and an escape from the busy-ness of life, the King Room with Spa Bath may be just right for you. This room has a Jacuzzi tub right next to the king sized bed.
The ensuite washroom is full size, with a sink, toilet and a shower and tub. It is entirely separate from the spa-tub area.

The Brampton Marriott Courtyard has two sizes of suites which are 525 sq.ft and 550 sq.ft in area. The suites have the bedroom physically separated from the living area. The size and layout makes the suites ideal for families, honeymooning couples and those wanting additional privacy if they are entertaining any guests.

The Courtyard by Marriott, Brampton also has a convention centre for hosting social and corporate events. There are 3 meeting rooms for hosting corporate meetings and seminars. The meeting rooms can accomodate between 8 and 40 people.

If you are looking to host larger events such as a fundraiser or a wedding, The Brampton Courtyard has a banquet hall that can hold up-to a maximum 350 guests. You may be able to divide the space to two-thirds or even one-third to suit your purpose.


Fairfield Inn & Suites, Brampton

Fairfield Inn & Suites is a Marriott brand that is advertised as an economical and a budget-friendly alternative to its mid-range and up-scale brands. It is primarily targeted towards business travellers, with many properties located near industrial parks and airports.

The Bramptom Fairfield Inn features a swimming pool with a two storey water-slide. The water-slide is, however, open only on Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday. The swimming pool is heated and clean towels are provided at no extra charge.
There is a fitness room that faces the pool, and equipped with several free weights and cardio machines.

Complimentary breakfast is offered to all guests every morning. There is a wide assortment of items such as eggs, bacon, waffles, muffins, pastries, bagels and breads to choose from. Morning beverages include orange and apple juices, coffee and tea. Most items can be packed in take-out containers to be enjoyed later.

You can grab chips, snacks, soft-drinks and other items from the self-serve Corner Market, that is open from morning to midnight.

The Brampton Fairfield Inn & Suites is a great place to do business. The reception has plenty of seating for informal meetings. The Business Centre has facilities for print and fax.

There are two meeting rooms at the hotel, which can accomodate between 10 and 50 people for corporate meetings, seminars and catered lunches.

All rooms and suites at the Brampton Fairfield Inn are furnished with an ergonomic work-desk and office-chair. You will find a dresser and a closet to put away your things in. In-room amenities include free wi-fi, a mini-fridge, a microwave, a coffee-maker, a clothes iron with an ironing board, and a flat-screen TV with cable TV and pay movies.

The heating and air-conditioning can be individually controlled in each room. The windows have black-out curtains for privacy and to darken the room during daylight hours.

The Standard Rooms at the Brampton Fairfield Inn are a spacious, with 360 sq.ft in area. The Standard King Room has a King size bed and is most suitable for couples and solo travelers.

The Standard Queen Room has two Queen size beds and therefore, can sleep up-to 4 guests. Large families and groups may be able to request inter-connecting and adjoining rooms depending on availability.

The Brampton Fairfield Inn & Suites can also accomodate guests who are vision impaired and those requiring wheelchair assistance with their Accessible or Disability Access rooms. These rooms feature wheelchair-width doorways, braille signage, low-height counters and sink, a roll-in shower and a low-height desk.
The Accessible rooms come in a single King bed or a two Queen bed configuration, accomodating 2 or 4 guests.

Couples looking for a romantic escape, should atleast consider the King Room with Spa Bath which has a Jacuzzi tub right next to the king sized bed.
The ensuite washroom is entirely separate from the spa-tub area. It is a standard full size with a shower-tub, sink and toilet.

The King suite with a Jacuzzi is another option for couples, especially on their honeymoon or anniversary. The suites have a separate living room with a complete entertainment area including a flat-screen TV and a sofa-bed.

The Queen suite can accomodate up-to 6 guests on two queen beds and a sofa bed. This suite does not have a jacuzzi.

The Fairfield Inn Brampton has a Business centre where you will workstations with internet access and facilities for printing, photocopying and fax. There are two meeting rooms that can accomodate between 10 and 50 people. They are equipped with overhead projectors, microphones and video-conferencing, needed to conduct meetings of today.


Hilton Garden Inn, Brampton West

Hilton Garden Inn, Brampton is located on 200 Steelwell Rd. It shares the address with Home2 by Hilton, an extended stay hotel, which is discussed further below.

To reach the hotel from Hwy 410, exit on Steeles Ave and head east toward Tomken Rd. Turn right onto Tomken Rd and then take the first right at Steelwell Rd.
If you are driving west on Steeles Ave, don’t miss the left turn on Tomken Rd, otherwise you will end up taking a u-turn in heavy traffic.

The Brampton Hilton Garden Inn has an indoor heated swimming pool open to all guests. It also has a gym, equipped with several cardio machines and free weights.

The Garden Grille and Bar is an onsite restaurant, exclusive to all Hilton Garden Inns. It serves breakfast (not complimentary), lunch and dinner, featuring ribs, roasted chicken, salmon, burgers, salads and fries.

The Brampton Hilton Garden Inn offers free wi-fi, a mini-fridge, a microwave, a coffee-maker, a clothes iron with an ironing board, and a flat-screen TV with cable channels and movies on demand in all its rooms and suites. You will find plenty of dresser and closet space to stow your things. Every room has a work-desk that is paired with a Herman Miller ergonomic chair.

The windows have black-out curtains which can block all light. Each room has a heating and air-conditioning combination unit that can be individually controlled.

The ensuite washrooms are built to Canadian standard with a shower-tub combination. They are installed with a wall mounted hair-dryer and are stocked with clean towels and complimentary toiletries by Neutrogena.

The Standard Rooms at the Brampton Garden Inn are around 320 sq.ft in area. They have two configurations, namely the King Room which has a single King size bed, and the Queen Room which has two Queen size beds.
Inter-connecting and and adjoining rooms may be available on request.

The King Room with Jetted Tub/Whirlpool has a Jacuzzi tub right across from the king sized bed. It has all the furnishings and amenities of the Standard King room, including the full size ensuite washroom.

The Hilton Garden Inn Brampton can accomodate guests who are vision impaired and those requiring wheelchair assistance with their Accessible Evolution rooms. They are similar to the Standard King and Queen rooms, modified to have wheelchair-width doorways, braille signage, low-height counters and sink, a roll-in shower and a low-height desk.

The suite at the Brampton Hilton Garden Inn has a King bedroom and a separated living area which has a complete entertainment area including an additional flat-screen TV and a sofa-bed. With a floor area of 645 sq.ft the suites are ideal for special occassions, small families and those desiring additional privacy.

If you are looking to get productive, The Hilton Garden Inn Brampton has a Business Centre with facilities for printing, faxing, video-conferencing and workstations connected to the internet. There is a boardroom for holding meetings which can accomodate up-to 10 people.

The Brampton Garden Inn has a 1400 sq.ft banquet space for events such as fundraisers, anniverseries and weddings. A maximum 100 guests can be accomodated and the hall can be split in two if necessary.


Home2 Suites, Brampton

Home2 is an Extended Stay hotel by Hilton. It features Studio and One Bedroom Suites that have a separate bedroom, living room and a Kitchenette. Extended stay hotels are suitable for employees on extended assignments, families who are re-locating, and enterprising nomads.

The Brampton Home2 is located on the same property as the Hilton Garden Inn on 200 Steelwell Rd. If you are arriving by Hwy 410, exit on Steeles Ave and head east toward Tomken Rd. Turn right onto Tomken Rd and then take the first right at Steelwell Rd.
If you are driving west on Steeles Ave, don’t miss the left turn on Tomken Rd, otherwise you will end up taking a u-turn in heavy traffic.

The Home2 Suites in Brampton has free outdoor parking. It has a swimming pool open to all guests and their children. Home2 exclusivesy features Spin2Cycle: A fitness centre, equipped with several cardio machines and free weights, combined with a coin laundry. The idea is that you can get a workout while you keep an eye on your washing.
This also prevents guests from forgetting their laundry and preventing others from using the machines.

Home2 is a pet-friendly hotel, however, there is a $75 fee at check-in time for any creature, small to medium in size.

Guests are offered a complimentary breakfast every morning consisting a wide assortment of items such as eggs, bacon, waffles, muffins, pastries, bagels and breads to choose from. Free coffee and tea is available all day at the beverage bar.
There is a 24 hour self-serve Pavilion Pantry Market where you can get chips, snacks, soft-drinks and laundry detergent other sundry items.

All suites at the Brampton Home2 have a Kitchenette. It is furnished with a fridge, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, coffee-maker and dining table. The cabinets are stocked with cookware, china and glassware for up-to 6 people.
If you need to cook, the front-desk can lend you a portable induction cooktop at no additional charge.

Home2 has two types of suites: the Studio Suite, where like any standard hotel room, the sleeping, lounging and the dining areas share the same space; and the One Bedroom Suite, which has the bedroom separated from the rest of the suite.

Both the Studio and the One Bedroom suites come in a single King bed and a two Queen bed configuration. A sofa bed in the living area can accommodate two additional guests.

The Home2 Suites Brampton also has Mobilty/Hearing Accessible suites which feature braille-signage, wheel-chair width entryways, low-height counter and sink, Lowered light switches and a roll-in Shower

All suites at the Brampton Home2 are non-smoking. You will be fined $250 if you do get caught smoking.

If you need to get productive, all rooms have a laptop friendly desk and an ergonomic chair. Free wi-fi is available to all guests.
The hotel has a Business Centre where you can print, fax and also use one of the available workstations.


Brampton hotels on Queen and 410

Queen St is an important arterial road for Brampton. It begins in the east as a continuation of Hwy 7 at the itersection of Hwy 50, on the Brampton-Vaughan border. It shares the designation of Peel Regional Road 107 for ten kilometers until it reaches Hwy 410.

RR 107 becomes part of Hwy 410, and continues west as Bovaird Dr until the it reaches Georgetown. From here, the road becomes Hwy 7 again.

The intersection of Queen St and Main St is the core of Downtown Brampton. Here you will find the Brampton City Hall, Garden Square, The Rose Theatre, the beautiful Gage Park and the Brampton GO Train Station. You will find numerous stores, restaurants and places to hang-out.
Parking is a challenge in Downtown Brampton mainly due to the lack of spaces and that it is never always free.

Queen St continues west of Downtown Brampton for another 5.5 kilometers and ends at Mississauga Rd. Technically, this section of Queen St is designated as Peel Regional Road 6, which continues as Embleton Rd in Brampton and as 5 Sideroad in Milton.

Major landmarks on Queen St E include the Bramlea City Centre Mall and Chinguacousy Park. The area surrounding Hwy 410 and Queen St is mostly resedential and commercial. You will numerous fast-food restaurants and restaurant chains along Queen St such as Pizza Pizza, Popeyes, Subway, Burger King, McDonald’s and Red Lobster.


Quality Inn & Suites, Brampton

Quality Inn is a part of Choice Hotels International. It stands on 30 Clark Blvd, at the south corner of Bramrose Square Shopping plaza. The No Frills grocery store across the large parking lot is hard to miss.
The Hwy 410 can be accessed via Queen St and a second ramp to Hwy 410 South lies on Clark Blvd, next to the plaza.

While the property may not look the size, Quality Inn offers several amenities for its guests. To start with, it has an indoor heated swimming pool and a whirlpool Jacuzzi. There is a fully equipped gym with several cardio machines, free-weights and yoga mats.
The hotel also has meeting and conference spaces which can accomodate up-to 50 people at a time.

All guests at the Brampton Quality Inn are offerred a complimentary breakfast where you can choose from eggs, bacon, pancakes, waffles, muffins, bagles and beverages such as coffee, tea and orange juice.

The Quality Inn & Suites Brampton has has a mini-fridge, a microwave, a coffee-maker, an iron and ironing board in every room. A workdesk is included and paired with an ergonomic chair. For entertainment, you will find a 37 inch flat-screen TV with cable channels and pay-for-view movies.

The washrooms have a shower-tub combination and have a beautiful granite countertop. They are installed with a hairdryer and stocked with complimentary toiletries and clean towels.

There are three types of rooms available at the Brampton Quality Inn. The King and Queen rooms are 300 sq.ft in area and include all the amenities mentioned earlier. The King Room has a single King size bed, ideal for solo travellers and couples. The Queen Room is furnished with 2 Queen size beds, making it suitable for a family of four.

The King Suite has a bedroom and a separate living room which has a second flat-screen TV and a sofa bed. The suite is perfect for guests wanting to make their stay more comfortable and a little more private.


Comfort Inn, Brampton

Comfort Inn is also a Choice Hotel brand, mainly geared to visitors on short stays and business travellers. The Brampton location is at 5 Rutherford Rd S, just south of Queen St and just a 2 minute drive to the above discussed Quality Inn.

At the Brampton Comfort Inn, you will find clean, comfortable rooms and a quick breakfast to start your day. The complimentary breakfast includes grab-and-go items such as bagles, muffins, cookies and other baked goods, as well as cereal, eggs and bacon. Bottomless coffee, tea and juices are had in take-out cups and containers.

The hotel has free wi-fi as well as facilities for printing and fax, as well as 10 person meeting room for conducting business.

There is a fitness room which has a tread-mill, an elliptical and a recumbent bike.

A Coin Laundry is also available for guest use.

The Brampton Comfort Inn has 102 rooms that are located on two floors. There is no elevator access to the second floor. Which is why you will see the same type of rooms listed twice on most booking sites; once for the lower floors and the second for the upper floor.

Some rooms on the lower floors have a motel-style exit to the parking. This may be very convinient for wheel-chairs so that they need not make a trip through the lobby. It can also be excellent for additional privacy.

The Brampton Comfort Inn has basically two types of rooms: the Queen and the King room. There are several configurations of each room typ which may be suitable for a wide range of travellers.

The Queen rooms have a One Queen Bed and a Two Queen Bed configuration. The One Queen Bed room has a sofa-bed, making it ideal for a solo traveller and a companion.

The King rooms, with their King size bed, are more suitable for couples. The 1 King Bed Deluxe room features a Jacuzzi right across next to the king sized bed. It has all the furnishings and amenities of the King room, including the full size ensuite washroom.

The Comfort Inn Brampton has 2 suites with a Kitchenette which have a sink and cabinets stocked with crockery and cutlery. With more than 325 sq.ft of space, these suites have defined living and sleeping areas and plenty of walking space.


Days Inn, Brampton

Days Inn is an economy brand of accomodation by Wyndham, which also owns Howard Johnson, Super 8 and Ramada. The Brampton Days Inn is located on 260 Queen St E, just west of Hwy 410. This section of Queen Street is very busy and has cars zooming at 70 km/hr, which is why you must be careful when pulling into or out of the hotel’s parking.

The rooms at Days Inn Brampton come with a flat-screen TV, a hair-dryer, clean towels and complimentary toiletries. Microwaves are only available in the breakfast area.
The furnishings such as the bed, work-desk and chair are maintained but require an update.

The Standard Rooms at the Days Inn Brampton have an area of 280 sq.ft and are available in a single Queen, two Queen and a single King bed configuration. These rooms have all the amenities mentioned earlier and similarly furnished.

The Mobility accessible room features wheel-chair width doors, a roll-in shower and a raised toilet seat with grab bars. It has all amenities and furnishings of the Standard rooms.

The Brampton Days Inn has a One bedroom Suite that has a separate bedroom, living room and a Kitchenette. The living room has a complete entertainment area with an additional flat-screen TV. The kitchenette has a sink, microwave, fridge, coffee-maker and cabinets stocked with cutlery, glass-ware and china.

All guests are offered a grab-and-go breakfast consisting of items such as bagles, muffins, cookies as well as cereal and milk. You can take your coffee, tea, and juice in a take-out container to work or back to your room.
