The Genome Valley business district, located just north of Hyderabad is India’s hub of pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. It is home to the state-owned research centres such as the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, the National Institute of Nutrition, the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology and the state-owned drug manufacturer Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals. These companies have attracted private drug research and manufacturing firms to Hyderabad and establishing a $3 billion market in this sector.

Hyderabad Airport

Hyderabad is served by the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD). It is located on the south side of the city in Samshabad. It is India's sixth busiest airport, handling around 21 million passengers per year. It connects to more than 50 cities in India and around 15 cities internationally.

The most popular domestic destinations from Hyderabad are Delhi (DEL), Mumbai (BOM), Bengaluru (BLR) and Chennai (MAA). Dubai (DXB) and Muscat (MCT) are the most popular international destinations. Hyderabad also has direct flights to London Heathrow (LHR) on British Airways and to Hongkong (HKG) on Cathay Pacific.

The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) operates air-conditioned "Pushpak" buses to designated stops in the city at every 30-minute interval. This is the cheapest and the most convenient way to get from the airport to the city.
Air-conditioned cabs operated by Skycab and Meru are readily available at the airport exits. If you are a woman travelling alone, then ordering a She Cab is your safest option. This is a service operated by women for women, with an emergency system directly connected to the police.

Mumbai Airport

Mumbai is served by the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM). It is located mostly in Vile Parle, but also expands out into Andheri East in the North and Santa Cruz East in the South. It is India's second busiest airport after Delhi in terms of both passenger and cargo traffic, handling around 950 aircraft movements per day, and more than 49 million passengers per year.

Mumbai Airport has two terminals: Terminal 1 in Santa Cruz for domestic flights and Terminal 2 in Andheri for both International and Domestic flights. It serves more than 45 cities Internationally and 58 cities in India. The most popular destinations from Mumbai are to Delhi (DEL), Bengaluru (BLR) and Hyderabad (HYD). Dubai (DXB) is the most popular international destination from Mumbai, followed by Bangkok (BKK), Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Singapore (SIN).

While taxis are readily found just outside the terminal exits, public transport is also available via buses in the same area, taking you to the train stations on the main line, and bus depots in Sion and Ghatkopar.

A secondary airport to Mumbai's CSIA (BOM) is currently being constructed in Navi Mumbai (NMIA). Multiple delays have pushed back the airport's expected opening to 2021.

The next closet fully operational airport is at Pune (PNQ) which is approximately 160km south east of Mumbai.
