Three weeks ago, I poured out my thoughts against a twit inciting hatred and terrorism over the Internet. He is a student at the University of Toronto in Mississauga and was actually interviewed by the National Post. He is currently under investigation by the RCMP and CSIS.

Last weekend, I learnt of Salman Hossain’s background and family. And what I learnt shed a lot of light on why he would behave this way.

I’ve been tagged by Lee of Tar Heel Ramblings for this meme which requires me to do the following:

  • Open the book that you are currently reading or pick up a nearest book.
  • Open to page 123
  • Find the fifth sentence
  • Post the next three sentences

This meme couldn’t have come at any other time, than when I am reading a book in French. continue reading →

WordPress 2.3.3 is out and now, many of you are thinking of getting rid of the annoying “A new version of WordPress is available! Please update now”.

Unfortunately, many of us are intimidated by complicated instructions and are afraid to loose our valuable work ! But I hope to change this and simplify your understanding of what you really need to do.

In this article, I am going to show you two methods of upgrading WordPress: the first by using an FTP program, FileZilla; and the other without using a desktop program albeit depending on your web-hosting control panel provided by your hosting provider. continue reading →

There is a twit, here in Canada, who can also be identified with twits inciting terrorism and hatred towards everybody besides themselves.

You can read more about his story at the National Post: http://www.nationalpost.com/story.html?id=272528

What amazes me is how can a normal human being even begin to behave this way ? continue reading →

Ask for advice instead

I gave out a lot of advices this month. Perhaps too many for someone like me. But I felt useful. And I was thanked every time. That made me gave out more advices.

People love giving out advices even when they are not asked to. Something strange happens while a person is giving out advice. They spill out a lot more information than they ought to. May be Dr. Phil can explain.

In most cases, that information is something they have experienced in the past. That information can reveal a lot about that person !

So, when you want information out of someone, for example, a real estate agent, ask for advice instead.

That was yet one more advice for this month !

Catchy title I should admit ! But its not singing with just Drew Carey, but also Colin Mochrie, Ryan Stiles and Wayne Brady.

Ok Ok .. I was caught up today, watching clips from “Whose Line Is It Anyway ?”; and I’d like to share with you three clips I liked in particular. All of them include singing of course; the first is a hoedown and the second I can’t well describe, and the third is an Irish drinking song.

I have a friend who blogs anonymously. As far as I can tell you, she is a Muslim and blogs about women’s issues, relationships, terrorism, poetry, non-fiction and other articles with hope to set the records straight within the Muslim community.

These seem to be very conventional issues but there elements out there, within the Muslim community and outside, that would want to stir up controversy about what she writes and hurt her reputation.

American change often makes it into our pockets up here in Canada. It is almost always through buying at stores - whether it be coffee, groceries or that big screen tv, thanks to tourism in the summer and a very large number of truckers that cross the border on both sides all the year round.

American coins are always exchanged on par with Canadian money knowingly and mostly unknowingly because of similarities in sizes and appearance.

A summary of terrorism well put

There was a jolt when I read about the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. But I am deeply saddened because now scores of people will die and they had nothing to do with it.

I was reading the Arab News this morning and came accross the statement by King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. I could not have summarised my thoughts against any form of terrorism into words better than these.

‘tis the season to look up for an answer

As I write, I am going through a career situation. It feels like I’ve been derailed from tracks leading to my career goals but I know it’s only a track-switch. As the new year draws closer, I’m quite clueless where these new sets of tracks are leading to.

I am still thankful that I have a roof over my head, am able to have three meals a day, a dad and a mom - no matter how far they are and many many other blessings. I have my faith in God, and I am sure that the next station is not too far off. (I love playing trains).

Hamilton was greeted by a snow storm Saturday night with its second snowfall of the season. The storm was part of a system that hit Buffalo, Southern Ontario and Montreal with freezing rain and around 10 centimeters of snow. But some forecasters are expecting 30 centimeters of more snow today ! Hamilton received a moderate snowfall, not in storm conditions though, but the roads were bad !

Snow from the first snowfall last Saturday had already melted but this snow is here to stay. Winter has oficially arrived !
