Fuchsias on dinnerware

They are Fuchsias right ? enlarge photo
I’ve a dinnerware set – which dad and mom insisted on getting – that sport beautiful flower illustrations by an amateur artist named Caroline Maria Applebee (d.1854). The illustrations are now owned by the Royal Horticultural Society.
This picture was taken using the Color Reverse mode on the camera. Bright areas appear dark, dark areas appear to glow, magenta appears green, blue appears yellow and vice versa.
I think this way it looks way more interesting than the original.
Note: It is not very easy to achieve desired results on a shiny surface. You’ll need play around with the lighting to avoid reflection (shown darkest) and at the same time get the brightest colours.

That looks far too pretty to eat from!

Do you have coffee mugs with this design? I bet Tim Horton’s coffee tastes even better being sipped out of something so artful!
@Kathy – Thanks to you, I’ve also begun to use “Purple-Phase” in my vocabulary.
@Babs – beetle – Thank You !
@Daisy the Curly Cat – You are so right. I hardly eat from that dinnerware set. I use my own simpler stoneware instead.
@ann of the junkdrawerblogfamily – Thankfully NO ! What’s a bachelor who hardly entertains to do with pretty mugs and cups ? Ok I admit I have a pretty tea-set – which I never get to use anyway. But my personal coffee mug is plain white.
They do look like fuschias to me, yup.

Yes! They are fuchsias! My mom drives me crazy by pronouncing this “fyook-see-ya” because the flower was named for the botanist Leonhart Fuchs, and she insists that the flower should be pronounced the same as this guy’s name (fyooks). Are you tired of this yet? Anyway, very nice photo editing. They actually look kind of creepy!

Well, JD, maybe if I remember the way your mom pronounces it, I will also remember how to SPELL it. I NEVER get it right, and now I should be able to remember it the right way.

Fuchsias is one of my faves – what an artistic way to show the beauty.

Oh, Jaffer, Jaffer, Jaffer, Jaffer. That coffee mug is horrendous. It looks institutional. It’s like a generic hospital mug. Use the tea set, please. You only go around once!
FYOOKS!

@JD at I Do Things – I know of that pronounciation and I don’t like it either. All work of the camera there.
I’ll try working with coffee in the future – it looks way freakier !
@meleah rebeccah – Thank You !
@Jenn Thorson – I spelled it wrong in the title too when I first published it ! You say Freud, I say Freud…
@RennyBA – Thanks Renny ! And a happy Birth-week !
What a lovely photo! I love playing with pictures and getting interesting results…Thank you for playing in the Bloggie Give away and if indeed you are correct I have some yarn that would make for a lovely scarf for a gentleman such as yourself! I’ll check back for color options if you win!
@CourtneyRyan369 – Welcome to ManiaRavings ! I like to experiment with photography exclusively through the camera and lighting. And if I edit an image, I am always very open about it.
Oh hey ! About that scarf – I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed !
That is a beautiful photo. It is hard to get reflective objects to photograph just right, and you did a great job!

@Kristi – Thank you ! If you look at the picture there’s a dark black spot in the middle – that is a reflection of the flash – it was the smallest I could achieve !
