As computer technology rapidly changes and as more people go online, so do libraries need to keep up with emerging trends and technology.

Local libraries have had a notorious reputation of having the most outdated material. But I was pleasently surprised at the freshness of books pictured above: they were all published within the last two years.

Yep. Just at the local ‘brary today. I live in a fairly small town which has a brand new library (wireless, no doubt). They have a nice new books section, both fiction and non. There are always a few tech books on these shelves. I think library personnel/management should be approached with recommendations for new purchases. With a good proposal from patrons, we can make a good argument for future acquisitions. Especially if the Library is offering free computer classes!

Oh. By the way, you might want to clean the lens on your (phone?) cam lens. Unless you are going for that soft, hazy look. ;)

Thank you for commenting BigNerd. Actually, when I took that picture, I accidentally moved the camera quite a bit - so you are looking at a blurry picture of books moving in fast motion.

[The] problem is, local libraries usually depend on either donation or the amount of readers, who are interested in a particular subject. Computer and technology is not everyone’s, so it’s a little difficult to expect for a good collection of computer books. The only solution to do that is do an interlibrary loan and have the local library notify me when the book arrives. Usually, libraries in the big city have better collections, although they don’t always have the kinds of book we want. I guess the last resort is a book store.

Thank You Abutua, and welcome ! Besides donations, librarians also eagerly await the city’s annual budget report. The bigger the budget, the more services they can provide which in turn could draw more patrons and more demand for books.

Even if your local library does not have it, EVERY public library is now on the Network (at least in North America); and by law they have to serve you–by hooking or by acquiring–Its your tax money that funds their existence, and not otherwise. There is a fine line, too.

And that fine print is: Provided, you ask, you demand, & / or you get few buddies to recommend same goody books, whatever the subject of interest. PERIOD.

Keep up the good work, and remember the wise said: good breeds good.
Best wishes, MT
