A weekend of reuniting
What a beautiful weekend I’ve had ! I am so not looking forward to the mid-term test on Wednesday but I’ll have to sit down and study for it - eventually !
I spent past weeked catching up on family and friends, starting with a reunion at my college.
College Homecoming
George Brown College hosted its 40 year homecoming on Saturday. It was well planned - we started with lunch, followed by a presentation of the college’s history, after which we went on a tour of our old departments. The tour was appropriately titled “Are you kidding me ?”, and I did just that even though I only graduated two years ago !
Some of the most frequently used hallways were taken over by offices so everything looked quite different ! The engineering programs were updated and we had a look at some of the brand new labs that will be ready for the September 2008 session. I felt outdated already !

On the flip- side, there weren’t too many people ! You see, when I graduated, we had to register to be an alumni and this way, the college lost track of most of them. But they learned their lession and from now, all graduates are automatically put in the alumni list.
We ended the day with a reception and cake cutting followed by a hugs and good-byes !
Supper pour trois
Later that evening, I took Ahmed and Hassan out for dinner to celeberate Ahmed’s engagement. We went to Lucky’s in Scarborough, which the gang reserves for special events. You must give Indian-Hakka food atleast one try ! I guarantee you’ll love it !
Lucky’s is located at Lawrence Avenue and Markham Road at 3774 Lawrence Ave. East.
The family goes online (again)
In another development, cousin Faisel, has relaunched our family forum on MyFamily.com. It’s now in version 2.0 beta and I think its a big improvement over the old website. Its much easier to navigate, the photo albums are neat and best of all, it’s going to be “free” !

Our family really needs something like MyFamily.com because we’re all spread out on 5 of the 7 continents and hardly get know one another ! So far the response has been positive. My dad especially is enjoying it !

There is one comment so far...
Jaffer,
Good luck with the new blog design. It looks very nice and clean on my tiny-screened laptop running IE 6.0!
It’s hard to find the best blogging platform. I started with Blogger, and have considered WordPress, but the idea of transferring everything is too daunting for me. I bet, like you, I’d be distracted by all the available plug-ins for Wordpress, and my productivity would plummet.
We’re so lucky to be living in 2007, where the Internet allows us to keep in touch with far-flung family.
Before everyone had Internet access, every time we’d find ourselves in a new place, one of the first things we’d do is look through the telephone directory for missing relatives.
Now they find us through the web, and send e-mails with pictures of the new cousins!
Thank you for visiting my blog, and for your kind comment about my cakes.
All the best,
CLKL
