A summary of terrorism well put
There was a jolt when I read about the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. But I am deeply saddened because now scores of people will die and they had nothing to do with it.
I was reading the Arab News this morning and came accross the statement by King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. I could not have summarised my thoughts against any form of terrorism into words better than these.
“We convey our condolences to the bereaved family. Along with the people of Saudi Arabia, we express our condemnation of this horrendous crime committed by some wicked elements who are far removed from the values and moral principles of Islam and have transformed themselves into beasts to spill innocent blood and strive to enforce the law of the jungle. We are confident, God willing, that the brotherly people of Pakistan will cling to their religious faith and patience in the wake of this catastrophic event.”
Only last Wednesday I was reading an article on the BBC which had a mention about newspapers headlining how Pakistan became more dangerous than Iraq.
P.S. the article is about how civillians in Pakistan are still able to lead normal lives among political chaos. Note that as of this writing, the date on the article says 12 November 2007.
